During School and College, girls who would read Mills and Boons (romance novels) were looked down upon. A lot of girls did end up reading them but were embarrassed to admit that they did. Of course the boys would simply pooh-pooh the entire matter – they wouldn’t even touch these books. Why would people mock others who read romance? When I had grown off these attitudes, I read couple of these books and found that many of them were written well. These attitudes still persist. Here’s an analysis of why they do:
