Economists and analysts have repeatedly declared Japan as the sick man of Asia with declining birth rate, ageing population, stagnant economy (and the stock market) and frequent natural/man-made disasters. However, when this author compares US with Japan, he finds Japan far better in terms of infrastructure and convenience. Japanese culture also promotes sharing of resources, dignity and patience – virtues that come handy in times of frugality. The Japanese are innovative at new ways of living and have turned the stagnation in growth into better opportunities.
