It is difficult to get paid for art unless one is an acclaimed artist – and that is rare. Of many great artists, very few become famous. Even fame does not guarantee money. While the prevailing attitudes of people in society discourage paid work, artists often struggle to make ends meet. It is not surprising that parents do not want their children to become artists for it is a life made of poverty. Online or offline, artists are expected to churn out free work or work for a pittance.
