In this very well-explained write-up, the author explains how ‘free’ things like Android (OS), or Facebook can give companies access to important user data, which the companies can sell to advertisers for money. Imagine if your voice-recognition TV records all personal things that you talk at home and leaks it on the internet? Today, we use dozens of apps without knowing how the apps capture user-data and how they use that data; digital services are moving from being optional to being necessary – mass surveillance can be done by the government because of always connected smartphones and computers. And, these are just few of the intruders of our personal space.
