The legendary battle of Waterloo had several consequences – the prime ones were the defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte and peace in Europe for a while. It also saw thousands of soldiers and horses dead. While the dead were robbed of any valuables on them, people came later for other “valuables” – the teeth of corpses for dentures and bones for fertilizer. As the author puts it – a dead soldier was worth more than a live one.
